Balboa Village

With our proximity to Golden Gate Park, Lands End, and Ocean Beach, people from all over the City, the Bay Area, and the world come to Balboa Village and discover our unique vibe, and cute business corridor. When you ask people who haven't spent much time Balboa Village, the first thing they think of is the Balboa Theatre. But Balboa Village is so much more than just ht the amazing Balboa Theater! Balboa Village is a laidback hub of local art and music with a cluster of great restaurants and shops in the Outer Richmond District.

Livability and a walkable neighborhood is another defining characteristic of Balboa Village.  Within a few blocks of safe, quaint streets, you can get your groceries, get artisan coffee and pastries, browse interesting art shops, and have a dinner date with a movie.

Balboa Village Merchants Association

The Balboa Village Merchants Association (BVMA), founded in 2015, actively promotes small business and quality of life in San Francisco's Outer Richmond District. The Balboa Village commercial corridor runs along Balboa Street from 30th to 45th Avenue in the outer Richmond District. BVMA includes members located on (and off) the main Balboa Village corridor.

BVMA is a strong advocate and partner for our small businesses and our community. BVMA helps small business owners connect with local resources, and build relationships with the community, other merchants, and our local city leaders.

BVMA organizes annual community activation events like Art Walk SF, Playland on Balboa, Far Out Fest, our Annual Halloween Balbooa Festival to showcase local shops, support local culture, and contribute to the vibrancy and revitalization of our neighborhood commercial corridor. In 2021, we secured grant funds to brighten our streets with community events, and by installing string lighting along our corridor.

We work closely with our community partners to make our neighborhood and our City an even better place to live and work. This includes: Office of Small Business, SFOCEIA, our D1 Supervisor's Office, SFPD Richmond Station, Richmond Neighborhood Center, Lafayette Elementary School, SFUSD Arts, SFPLSF Council of District Merchants, Clement Street Merchant Association, and others.

Our goal is to work together in community to support our community.
